Kenan Chan Photography
I'm 27 years old, born and raised in California. A few years ago I moved from my home in the Bay Area to Santa Cruz to attend UC Santa Cruz to get my degree in marine biology. Now, after receiving my degree, I juggle my photography and my work in the field of marine biology.
My passion for photography started from a young age. As a child, I would flip through the pages of the latest National Geographic Magazine, staring at the stunning images of strange animals and far away places. I started taking photos with disposable cameras but quickly realized how expensive it was to buy and develop them, especially how quickly I went through them. Eventually, after borrowing my mom's camera for a few years, I got my own.
When I started taking photos, I concentrated mostly on nature and landscape photography, being inspired by NatGeo, but after joining the school newspaper in high school, I began developing a love for action sports and photojournalism. Now, I try to combine my love for the ocean and photography by taking photos of surfing and other water related activities.
